About

ACPSEMQ would proudly like to introduce Kitch!

kitch.jpg

He (or at least that's what the scans have shown) is our new mascot. Kitch has grown up in the cane fields of the north and has moved south in search of opportunities to advance his modeling career - Monte Carlo that is!

In true Queenslander fashion he enjoys drinking a beer and musing about how we won the last State of Origin.

The ACPSEM Queensland Branch (ACPSEMQ) contains approximately 60 members. Physicists specialising in Radiation Oncology, Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, University Specialists, Biomedical Engineers, and Radiation Protection Specialists are all represented.

ACPSEMQ major activities include:

1) Regular branch committee meetings – typically approximately 8 per year.

2) Annual local symposium. This is usually held around August and has recently become a joint activity with the Queensland Cancer Physics Collaborative (QUT affiliated). Recent meetings have attracted 50 or more participants and have provided interstate guest speakers.

3) Other scientific meetings, presentations, and sites of interest visits.

4) Consultation on (local) matters relevant to our profession(s) eg. comments on radiation regulatory proposals.

5) Links with the “Scientists in Schools” initiative.

The ACPSEMQ branch chair is appointed as a board member of the ACPSEM.

The ACPSEMQ aims to provide opportunities for local members that complement the broader benefits of ACSPEM membership.
